Here at the University of Iowa, we follow a Values-Based recruitment program, where we encourage Potential New Members to seek out chapters who share similar values. The best way to identify your personal values, is to complete the iValu Bracket on CampusDirector, where you’ll narrow down your most cherished personal values.

Throughout recruitment, most chapters won’t explicitly state their values, but you will be able to tell what sorts of things they value through the conversations you have with active members. When someone mentions loving the family-style meals served at dinner, and the chance to connect with their sisters/siblings after a long day, you can infer that the chapter values sisterhood/siblinghood and family values.

When deciding which chapters to visit the following round, remember how you felt in their meetings. If you felt comfortable, that you could be yourself, and that they would support and value the things you value, then you are on the right track! If not, maybe have a conversation with your Rho Gamma about why that chapter might not be the best fit for you.
