One of the many ways that you will grow as a member of the Panhellenic community is through philanthropy and community service opportunities. All Panhellenic chapters value creating meaningful connections within our community by giving back through financial contributions and volunteerism. Through collective efforts and a shared purpose, thousands of hours and dollars are donated each semester, transforming the lives of many, including our own. As a member of the Panhellenic community, you will develop a sense of joy, accomplishment, and self-worth as you care for those around you.
Each semester, to raise money and awareness for their locally or nationally affiliated charitable organizations, chapters host events that encourage engagement with both the University of Iowa and greater Iowa City communities. Additionally, chapters and individual chapter members partake in community service opportunities at local elementary schools, retirement residences, and hospitals, among many others. They also help support Fraternity and Sorority Life sponsored events like blood drives, canned food drives and other outreach events to benefit our local Iowa City community.
Although each Panhellenic chapter is deeply invested in their affiliated charitable organization, all four councils within Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Iowa support the mission of the Circle of Sisterhood. The Circle of Sisterhood strives to eliminate global issues, such as poverty and oppression, for girls and women around the world by providing them with a quality education. As college educated individuals, we recognize the value in education and take pride in our ability to provide others with the same opportunity.
